It is NashTwirl week!
Athletes, Parents, & Coaches,
We are excited to welcome 120 athletes from 18 states & Canada to Music City this weekend for our 5th Annual NashTwirl Championships. It is going to be a fantastic competition, with some of the best athletes in the country in attendance. We hope it will be inspiring for all of our young twirlers!
Attached you will find the set system, with estimated times along the left side to help you plan your day. Please print a copy (or two!) to bring with you – copies of the set system will not be provided at the contest. If you believe there is an error, please reply to this email. Please keep in mind we are only able to correct errors that do not match what is entered on your athlete's entry form. It is not possible to make any changes to your entry at this time. Pro-tip: You can quickly find your athlete on the set system by clicking on the search icon (magnifying glass) in Adobe and typing their name into the search bar.
Please read the following important notes carefully to ensure a smooth competition:
Contest location – White House Heritage Elementary School (220 West Drive, White House, TN); please use the address to get to the correct school – there are several schools in the area with very similar names.
Central time zone – All times for the contest are Central time. Doors will open at 8am; contest begins at 9am.
CAS events (compulsories & movement technique) – If you are doing compulsories or movement technique for evaluation – don’t forget your compulsory book. It is required for all athletes who have already passed level C! If you are doing compulsories for comments only – please be sure to tell your judge when you walk up to the table so they will know to give you recorded comments. You do not need your compulsory book if you are only receiving comments. CAS evaluations will take place during Artistic Twirl, Strut, and X-Strut.

Coaches, we appreciate your help in keeping the contest moving smoothly by having your athletes ready for their set. It will be a long day, and we will not be able to wait for athletes who are not ready. Athletes who miss their set will not be able to compete at a later time.
Practice/competition areas – Only athletes, coaches and contest staff will be allowed on the competition floor. Coaches who were listed on an athlete’s entry form will receive a wristband upon arrival that will allow them access to the gym floor.
After modeling and foundation events, athletes should remain in one of the practice areas (band room or cafeteria) until 3 sets before they compete. For modeling & foundation events (basic, military, presentation, parade), athletes will line up in their lane to await their turn to compete. These events move very quickly, so athletes should be lined up in their lane before the event begins. For all other events, athletes should remain in one of the practice areas until 3 sets before they compete. Athletes may use the practice area at the back of the gym during the 3 sets prior to their performance.
Music – If you are competing in a group event or freestyle, show twirl, rhythmic, college/high school championships and have not already sent your music, please send your music ASAP to tnbatoncouncil@gmail.com. We need to have time to organize music files and check to make sure all files play correctly so you can have a smooth performance.
NashTwirl Cup 14-17 & Smoky Mountain Sweetheart 14-17– Due to a large number of entries in each of these events, you will see on the set system they have been split into 2 age divisions.
Modeling – All modeling events can be performed in any formation, with or without a baton. It is not necessary to have “modeling” hair for the costume modeling event; a competition bun is perfect. Athletes will be judged on modeling, not on hair. We will be moving quickly from modeling to foundation events, so there will not be time to transition from modeling hair to a competition bun.
Concessions – Concessions will be provided as a fundraiser by Studio Orange. We hope you will support this fundraiser. Please be respectful of the time and effort that go into hosting concessions, and do not bring in outside food or drink.
We are looking forward to an exciting weekend of baton twirling, fun, and friendship!
